Resurfacing of roads in Belhar, Bellville South and Montana

The City of Cape Town has commenced with the resurfacing of selected sections of Akkerboom Road in Belhar, Robert Sobukwe Road in Bellville South, and Robert Sobukwe Road in Montana. The project is anticipated to be completed by Friday, 28 November 2025, subject to weather conditions and potential unforeseen delays. Work will be carried out between 19:00 and 05:30, Mondays to Fridays.
‘The City is carrying out this routine maintenance work to ensure that we keep Cape Town moving on good quality roads. In Belhar, Bellville South and Montana the work will include laying a new asphalt surface, replacing damaged kerbs and reinstating all road markings affected during the process. We thank residents and road users for their patience and cooperation over the coming weeks as we work to improve road conditions in our communities,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
The works will be implemented along the following road corridors:
Belhar – between Robert Sobukwe Road and the graveyard entrance on Akkerboom Avenue
Bellville South - between Belcon Road and Symphony Way on Robert Sobukwe Road (eastbound)
Montana - between Valhalla Drive and King Air Boulevard on Robert Sobukwe (westbound)
The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate advises road users to exercise caution while work is in progress. Motorists are encouraged to observe all road signs, remain alert in and around the construction area, be mindful of on-site workers, and allow for additional travel time or make use of alternative routes where possible.
